iSun

1. Why should I choose iSUN over other contract manufacturing firms?
iSUN International Group is ready to put our 20+ years of experience, established infrastructure and capabilities in China to work for you. We have strong, capable management, engineering and manufacturing teams both here in the U.S. and "on the ground" overseas to assure your projects will be handled professionally from start to finish. iSUN manages the entire process: design, engineering, prototyping, tooling, sampling, pre-production, production, quality-assurance, compliance, certification, testing, importation, customs and delivery. Because iSUN is a U.S. based company that owns and manages its factories in Asia, we provide greater accountability and “sleep at night” assurance your product is properly controlled and safeguarded and every detail is carefully managed.

2. Why would I want to outsource any of my production to a contract manufacturer?
Your current "in-house" capabilities and your labor and overhead cost structures may not allow you to produce certain products or purchase certain products from your suppliers at price levels that you'd like. You are very likely missing out on incremental revenue opportunities as you "pass" on RFQs, lose programs to your competitors and avoid projects that could be handled easily for you by iSUN. Consider this: How you make money should be less important than whether you make it in house or if you outsource contract manufacturing work to iSUN. Consider making new profits and increasing your company’s cash flows, valuation and capabilities by operating the way many are in today’s global economy - by doing more "outside" and less "inside". iSUN provides a quicker "time to market", added flexibility and freed-up capital.

3. Quality is a major concern. How can I be sure that my specifications will be met?
Many people are under the mistaken impression that manufacturing overseas automatically means inferior quality. Nothing could be further from the truth. iSUN is proud of the quality that is produced at each of our manufacturing facilities. Our plants employ modern manufacturing methods and utilize the best equipment available. iSUN's experience, know-how, processes, equipment, resources and capabilities allow us to efficiently produce the highest world-class quality levels possible.

4. What types of cost reductions might I expect to see when using iSUN's contract manufacturing program?
Outsourced contract manufacturing almost always results in measurable cost savings, the amount depends on the specific product. You will need to consider the total savings: savings in reduced component/product costs as well as the benefits and savings in direct and indirect overhead costs as well as consider soft, intangible and/or hidden costs (travel, management time, problem resolution time, poor quality, late deliveries, poor customer service, etc.). As you might expect, you will tend to save significantly more on projects that have a higher direct labor content and/or more process and assembly steps. Your total savings should generally be in a range between 20% to 50% of your total current costs.

5. I am concerned about product piracy. How will my technology and intellectual property be protected?
Although there have been several "headline grabbing" cases involving product and technology piracy, these tend to occur mainly in the footwear/fashion items or in cutting-edge technology items. This type of event is much more rare, in contract manufactured commercial and industrial products. Given that we are a U.S. company that owns its factories and we have long established relationships with our third party suppliers, we have a much greater control over our operations and the ability to mitigate this risk. As a U.S. company, we are addressable and accessible and can be held to a much higher degree of accountability. In our 20 years of contract manufacturing in China we have not had a single incidence of patent infringement or product knock-offs. iSUN is in business solely as a pure contract manufacturer, producing a wide variety of products and components, i.e. we are not a company that just specializes in only making products similar to yours. For example, product knock-offs are more common when a company such as a U.S. sneaker company goes to an Asian owned company that only specializes in making sneakers. In that situation a potential competitor is being trained and knock-off risks are higher because those types of products can easily be sold as a finished good into many channels that are very easy to penetrate. Because iSUN is a pure contract manufacturer making custom products for others, we have a much greater vested interest in making sure all of your proprietary information is carefully and properly safeguarded. We believe our business model and contract manufacturing program is superior to many other possible ways to do business China.

6. Why is it advantageous to outsource with iSUN versus setting up our own joint venture or building our own facility in China?
In our vast experience, it rarely makes sense to try and establish or build your own facility overseas, unless your main goal is to sell that vast majority of your output into the local country where the production facility is established. This approach is best undertaken by large, multi-national corporations who have a need to manufacture products which are then distributed locally in that country (Examples: Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, Gillette, Kellogg's.) Even those large multi-national companies, with their own manufacturing plants offshore, still spend billions of dollars annually in outsourced, contract manufacturing. That approach also provides large multi-nationals, flexibility, speed to market, reduced capital costs and a cost effective approach to produce certain items. Most companies are far better letting others invest in plant, equipment, machinery and staff. Given the higher growth levels in the overseas manufacturing sector, iSUN along with our third party factories willingly invest in the latest technology and equipment in order to support the prospects for continually increasing sales volume. Outsourced contracting with iSUN offers you the best set of options and gives you total flexibility while obtaining fixed, controlled unit costs and quality--all managed for you under the iSUN umbrella.

7. What types of manufacturing capabilities does iSUN currently have? Is iSUN willing to open up new facilities to support different kinds of contract manufacturing?
iSUN owns three manufacturing plants: a precision plastics injection molding facility, a precision metal fabrication facility and a general assembly facility. We offer a broad range of manufacturing and assembly disciplines which include production tooling, electrical and electronic components, general and complex product assembly, full finished product builds and finishing/decoration and packaging. iSUN is interested and willing to work with you should you have production needs which do not fall within our range of current disciplines. We have set up dedicated production lines and factories for specific customer requirements. Our goal is to help you achieve your goals. We are willing to look at any contract manufacturing or production services where we can add significant value.

8. Can iSUN handle the complete manufacturing and delivery process to my warehouse or to multiple distribution points here is the U.S. and overseas?
iSUN is experienced and well positioned to handle all of your delivery needs, no matter how complex. We take ownership of your merchandise and follow it all the way through to the final delivery points. We manage all importation matters including the entire customs clearing process, duty payments, HTC classifications, etc. You will be able to "track and trace" all of your shipments, on line, through our web-based software system.

9. What are your manufacturing facilities like in China? Tell us a little about your workforce?
Our factories and very clean and modern and utilize the most modern equipment, processes and procedures and are ISO certified. Each of our factories employs a stable, experienced and well trained work force and we invest in employee development through a program of continuous training and we have a very low employee turn-over rate. Each of our third party network of suppliers are required to meet the same high standards that we employ.

10. How long does it take for iSUN to process RFQs?
We usually can complete our cost investigation in one week or less, providing we have complete information. To expedite the quotation process it is most helpful if you provide us with 3D IGS files, 2D drawings (if available), all material specifications, quantity and packaging information and if possible, samples or a prototype of your product, component or assembly. We prefer to receive cost target information from you; which saves time and helps us to consider manufacturing processes which will enable us to drive out costs and hit your budget. For new projects, the iSUN Engineer assigned to your project will work with your team to best decide on manufacturing methods that will enable us to achieve your cost and quality requirements.

11. How can I best forecast my project development costs for new programs?
As a general rule, you will not incur any costs until we begin production. Our first step is to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), which will assure confidentiality by iSUN throughout the development process. The next step is to make a determination if the product or project under consideration would benefit from patent protection; we can offer you an opinion regarding intellectual property rights. We will then assist you and your team with mechanical, electrical, industrial and product and packaging design, for which you will not normally be charged. We will also provide you with a Project Budget, which will include tooling and unit costs for production, based on your EAU (Estimated Annual Usage).

12. What are iSUN's normal payment terms?
Our standard payment terms are by Irrevocable Letter of Credit, at sight. We will also consider a Standby Letter of Credit from an accredited U.S. banking institution, backing up your company's Purchase Order, for qualified, listed and rated customers. We will consider alternative payment terms under special situations.

13. Should I be concerned about "on-time" delivery?
We have a saying in the company: "Great planning makes for great performance". Our offices in Hong Kong and in China are very diligent and expert in the scheduling, planning and processing of shipments and have a wealth of experience in expediting deliveries. We require and will rely on good information from you, our valued customer. You must help us help you and this includes allowing sufficient lead time for manufacturing and timely delivery by ocean cargo. We will review our standard lead times with you-but the mantra in working with overseas is always "Plan Ahead"! We can help you in this process to mitigate risks. We also offer the option of domestic and overseas warehousing and distribution services where we can provide safety or buffer stock of your items for "just-in-time delivery" or quick turn delivery requirements.

14. Can iSUN work with our Sales & Marketing Departments and outside design agencies to assess "new product concepts" for "manufacturability"? How about making prototypes so we can evaluate the marketability of new products we may be considering?
The earlier we become engaged in the (new) product development process, the better. We frequently work with our customers' sales and marketing departments and the industrial design firms, independent designers and other agencies they employ to provide an "early-stage" opinion as to how a new product under consideration might best be manufactured. We can suggest ideas for design elements which add value to the basic product concept which can be included at minimal costs because of the competitive costs of production in China.
